What do we do?
Our Process
Our goal is to provide long lasting solutions to your gas supply, future proofing your homes. We do this through maintaining, repairing and replacing your gas pipes. Currently we are replacing your gas pipes from metal to plastic to ensure the safe flow of gas into your homes and businesses.
Turning your gas off
To lay the pipe safely, we have to turn off your gas. We'll do this first thing in the morning, usually around 8am, but we'll let you know in advance. In some cases we may need to turn your gas off twice. We won't know this until we arrive on site, but we'll discuss this with you before starting work.
Digging
Most of the work will take place in the road or footpath. There is the possibility we may need to dig within the boundaries of your property. If this is the case our engineers will be in touch to discuss this with you. When digging we will place safety barriers and signs around the allocated site. Please be aware and watch your footing when moving near or around the site, as there might be trip hazards.
Laying the pipe
Laying the pipe happens within two stages. We relay the pipes within your home, which we will require access into your home throughout the day. The next stage is working on the main pipe that provides gas to your entire street.
If you already have a plastic pipe supplying your house, we will only need to work on the main gas pipe in the street.
Our engineers will tell you what kind of pipe supplies your home, and how this will affect you, when they arrive on site and have assessed all the houses in the street.
Turning your gas on
Once our work is complete, we will visit every home to safely turn the gas back on. If you can arrange to be home all day that day, it may mean we can reconnect you sooner. However, if you can't then don't worry, we work up to 8pm to reconnect everyone's home.
It may look as if our team has left but don't worry this means that a gas fitter is currently within other people's houses.
Please remember that this might mean you will not have gas at your usual mealtimes.
Filling in the holes
Once the pipes have been laid and your gas is back on, a different team will begin filling in the holes. This may take a few days, as we will do it in stages so that each layer of soil or material has time to settle properly.
